Window handle spacers and oil plug questions

I have a different color spacer for the right and left window handles. One is gray and the other is white. What is the correct color?

The second question is in regard to the oil plug on the oil pan. I bought one from Zip because during judging they told me it was wrong. The question I have is is the plug to be painted orange like the engine or left with out paint?

    Thanks

    Joe

Oil drain plug was installed on the engine when the engine was painted, thus it should be orange. Remember the paint operators had just seconds to do their job and bending over to cover the bottom of the oil pain with a heavy coat of paint was not on their agenda.

Re: the "spacer" for the window crank. I don't know the answer to your question, but it just might make a difference what year and/or color interior you have. I don't know that it would, just putting a suggestion out there.

        Joe,
My thoughts are that the color of the spacer would be an off white/yellowish shade. I believe they where made using a product called Hexamethylenediamine and Adipic acid more commonly known as Nylon6,6. I would also guess these parts where made using and injection molding process. Just a guess?

Boy am I impressed you can spell that word. You don't think they were stamped out of sheets?

            Google is my spelling friend!

I guess they could have been stamped? Isn't there are raised edge around the inner opening/circle? Haven't had one in my hand for a long while now, I'm going by memory?

I remember a raised edge, but can't remember which inner or outer. It has been a long time in my case as well. We still haven't answered Joe's color question yet, but we have about covered everything else.

Since yours is a late 1969 my early built 1970 may help. Near as I can tell without taking the window cranks off, the handle washers are white -- interior is bright blue. I am not sure if that matters.

I would agree with the White color any of the early C3 cars that I have helped with and original had White. The Gray from what I remember were later over the counter service replacements.

My original 1965 has the gray washers behind the window crank handles.

Thanks for all of the responses. I based of the responses think I will change the grey one to white.

When I judge interiors, I always deduct for the white ones.

MARK I have been down that road. Try to convince some judges that some plastic parts started out white & turned somewhat white yellow over time. One guy took me to a unrestored 40 year old car & said look it's yellow not white. I tried to explane that plastic wellowes over time. O well.

Just to be clear, I'm occassionally a bit irreverant. I never judge interior because I don't know **** about them.
