c1 clutch pedal sticks to floor

I've read that they call this overcentering, clutch is a new 11 finger type.
(is the 11 finger what they call a diaphram clutch ??)
How can we correct the pedal sticking ?
    all advice welcome,Francis

If you do some searching on Gorilla Spring I think you will find your answer. I may end up with the same problem as I am installing a similar clutch in my 1960. Here's some info from the 58-60 Corvette Restoration Handbook.

I believe there are two options for the spring when used with a modern diaphram clutch. The first is to leave it off, the clutch will operate without it. The second is to "flip" the spring attachment piece over and use the attachment point as a return spring. I bought a spring at Home Depot that is about the same size as the original (without the long leg) and it fits fine using all of the original pieces.Clutch spring.jpg

Another solution is to leave everything in place and correctly adjust your clutch. I've never had a problem with a clutch sticking to the floor using a diaphragm pressure plate and the "gorilla" spring. There was a thread recently that covered everything in detail.

This should tell you all, I installed a diaphragm clutch (LUK) earlier this year and use the instructions in the ST-12 and all is well. as Jim says it works.

              Phil,

Have you gotten your car back on the road with the Gorilla spring and the multi-finger type clutch? I'm in the same position and will be installing my engine in a month or so and am wondering if you have any issues with the pedal sticking down.

              Thanks,

              Don

                Don,
Have had the car together about 4 months now, clutch works fine and was all put back with the correct parts (gorilla spring) and the LUK clutch that I think you are referring to (multi-finger) as compared to the Borg/Beck 3 finger. The only difference was I had to adjust the bumper, cut off about 1/16in to get the 6 1/2 inch throw. Pedal pressure is not an issue and all works very smooth.

diaphragm clutches can be over centered if not adjusted properly. i have used clutch stops to prevent the sticking to the floor in fast shifts. the best way to adjust them is to jack up the back of the car,put it in gear and have someone slowly push in the clutch while you try and turn the back wheel by hand. when the wheel starts to move have the person pushing in the clutch note how far the clutch pedal is from the floor as this is the disengagement point. if it is real high you can over center the pressure plate by pushing the clutch the rest of the way in. if a adjustment does not get it closer to the floor you may need a clutch pedal stop to prevent over centering the pressure plate
