    C1 heater shut off valve?

I bought this heater shut off valve (5/8" hose) back in the early 1970's from an auto parts store. I used it on my 70 Camaro SS350 (wo/AC) from about 1971 to 1977 to insure that coolant would not flow thru my heater during the summer.

Was this valve standard equipment on straight axle Corvettes or is it strictly an aftermarket part?

My 1963 Chev. parts catalog lists GM # 3132607 (Gr. 8.866) as a valve assembly (w/5/8"hose) for all 1949-1961 models.

    Dave -

Someone posted the photo below a couple of years ago as an original '55 Corvette heater hose shutoff valve; looks similar to the one you posted.

Yep, looks like a '55 or very early '56 with '55 recirculating heater.

The shut off is for a 55 or early pre-100 56 corvette took me 4 years to find one bryan hepper 42470 1956 and 1965

valve has the correct body, but wrong stem. needs "mouse ears" like the one John H. posted. the valve with the straight stem is used on military jeeps and is pretty easy to get.
