Camaro ss fire in a trailer

This is just a terrible event that occurred on August 4, 2012.

BE SAFE OUT THERE......AND WATCH HOW YOU LOAD YOUR CAR. TRAILERING takes time to understand. Electric shut off switches are a must, and ''Don't haul gasoline in cans that can spill.

That certainly was tragic and heart felt. I used to pound the interstates setting up at most all of the big shows. I saw more tragic accidents and fires along the interstates.
A few basic things not to do. No gas cans in the trailer. Exception to that rule is if you have a approved fire rated gas can which few do.
Always disconnect the battery. Disconnect means more than turning a green knob. Means pulling a cable off the battery.
You see a lot of beat up trailers at the fleas and car shows. You also see a lot of 1st class ones.
Check the trailer wiring as it doesn't take much to have a short.
Why is it that guys hauling trailers have to pass everything on the road. Does that make them feel good? The truckers talk about this on the CB's as they see the results of hi-speed towing.

some states carrying gas in a trailer even in a approved container is against the law unless the trailer has a placard stating the type of fuel being carried. i guess that is to protect first responders

That was one hell of a lock on the side door. Why wouldn't they let the guy use or them use the key? The older I get & the more of this kind of thing I see I am a lot more careful with a Corvette on a trailer.

Way back when I worked for an organization that transported electronic gear in a trailer. To assure it was protected from total destruction in case of fire halon was installed. Expensive, but not as expensive as replacing a car.

They were in a panic as I would have been. It sure didn't seem like they were in any hurry or seem to know what to do. They beat on the door & never did get it open. One guy stood there & was still putting on his gloves. Look at the vidio again & see if you would want them to put out a fire in your car/house

Pretty harsh comments especially when much of what's going on is out of frame. More than one firefighter has been killed by rushing unprepared into an unknown situation. It's a friggin' car and a trailer- not worth endangering anyone's life when the damage is already done.

The fire was out when they started to work on the side door, which is clearly open later in the video.

                    Let's see you do better..............

The fireman tried the door first, and the owner was walking around close by. The video is not continuous, so we don't see if the owner tried his key. It probably didn't work on the heat damaged lock, as we can see by the efforts of the two firefighters who still could'nt get the door open with thier halligan tool (or pry axe, or whatever it was).

The loss is shame, and I hope he has good insurance.

Hey Clark, I wonder where the car is right now. I've always wanted a 69 SS, and condition does'nt matter.

I was a volunteer fireman. If the fire was out why were the trying to rip the door open. The door that they opened was on the other side after the fact. I didn't say they should go rushing in the trailer as you said it was already ingolfed in flame & I can understand not getting close because of the chance of a explosion. You wre the one that made a comment about the lady. I wonder if you would have a ho hum feeling if it was your car trailed. That was all I was saying. Cut the lady a break.

A properly place hose stream would have shut that cow up.

Why is the first thing I notice in the pic is that the SS has a 10 bolt rear end??

it was a show car not a race car and you don't need a 12 bolt to drive it in and out of a trailer.
