    1966 L72 Carburetor numbers question

    Hi Everyone,

    Ref. 1966 L72 Carburetor numbers

I was wondering what the EI stamp represents that is stamped after the part number on my carburetor as I don't see any reference to it in the judging manual. Can someone help me with the meaning of the EI stamp please?

Kurt, OH, that is a serious issue! If you are at our Ontario BBQ, I can relieve you of the problem carb.

from Alan Colvin: "This letter code is a customer code which is designated on late-model assembly line build sheets."
From Alan's list, that is an EI, not E1. (edit: I see you have EI, another poster on this had E1.)

          Kurt,

My carburetor has the same stamping. Here's a pic:

          I hope this helps.

Thank you Scott, Bill & Joe for the help. Going to have it restored this winter. (It's a whistler at idle )

the whistle can be caused by using the wrong gasket between the carb and the manifold

                Hi Clem,

Thanks for the tip about the gasket. Currently I have a correct "bastardized" 069 manifold installed on the car, but someone in the past opened up the plenum under the carb and it is using a relatively thin "open" gasket rather than the correct factory style gasket with the two round holes and the larger oblong hole. I have a non-modified 069 intake and the goal is to replace the manifold while the carb is being restored over winter.
