C1 (58 - 60) Judging question about battery charger clips

I know that the judging score sheet gives extra credit for battery shutoff, which I have. But my question is regarding the battery charger/minder attachment cable. I have the fresh new tar top restoration battery in my 1960. Still don't have the engine in yet, but I am keeping the battery charged by using the Battery Minder pigtail with the alligator clips. The charger also came with a pigtail that has ring tips that can be a more permanent installation onto the battery cable bolts. I know I could always install the pigtail after judging, but it would be much easier now with the engine out of the car.

Will I take a judging hit if I have this installed? If so how much? The Chassis section of the score sheets list the 'Cables & felt washer' as 8 points where I suppose I could get a ding for originality as having something foreign installed.
    Thanks,

    Don

    Don,

I would suggest you remove it before judging. As for a deduction, it would depend on the judge. Some might dot it and take a point after a few dots, or some might take a point for having the pigtail installed.

    Regards,

    Dennis

Did the charger not come with an attachment to plug into the cigar lighter? If not get one at your FLAPS.

Yes, you will take a hit in judging for having extra stuff. I don't know how much.

Unfortunately that will not work since I normally have the battery disconnect open and the lighter receptacle is dead.

            Ah ha. That makes sense.

As others have said, you will lose some points for the additional wires -- maybe only one point, maybe more, depends on which side of the bed the judge got up on that morning. Can you not just stick to the clips?

Yes, I'll just continue using the clips
