I just installed my rebuilt horns on my 59 and noticed that I have a light beep on the right side after driving the car. I disconnected the horns after the drive and still get a beep from the horn. Is it possible that the horn is storing current and making this sound? After several hours the beep stops. I've disconnected all the wires after a drive yesterday and it still beeped for a few hours. The AMP gauge does not indicate and draw. BTW, the horns were bought at different times and sat for a few years before installation.

Re: Horn Beep
Pat,
I believe it is your radiator burping after heat soak. The radiator cap is set to release at 7 lbs, and it makes about a 1 second beep sound when it burps. My '59 does the same thing, for a few hours after I park it in the garage. The first time I heard it, many years ago, I couldn't believe it. IIRC, it started doing it after installing a replacement copper radiator. I think it's a Griffin.

Re: Horn Beep
I di not hear this sound after in stalled the re-built engine. I had a Griffin alumimun rad prior to the new engine, but installed a correct copper rad for 59. The engine runs slightly warmer when in slow traffic, but fine when I'm on the open highway. I'll listen again after driving and see what it does. It might be a few days since is going to rain for the next 3 days.- Top
