Greetings!
I need a little advice on the correct throttle linkage attachment for my 1954 corvette. The attached photo shows the pieces of the assembly with the "bellcrank" or pivot plate in the center, the rod from the pivot to the transmission, the rod from the pivot to the carbs, and the adjustible rod from the pivot to the accellerator pedal bracket.
My question is what is the correct connector for the accellerator rod at the pivot. There is a connector at the end of the accellerator rod that provides adjustment that fits into the hole at the pivot. In the photo I have two types of these connectors but not sure which is correct.
The first is the painted one that came with the whole set up that I have show. This connector block does not appear to not have any hole in the pin that fits into the pivot - a hole where you typically would slip a cotter key in with a washer that would secure the rod assembly into the pivot. The connector itself is free to slide up and down the accellerator rod for correct adjustment and is held in place by 2 jamb nuts.
The second one is the unpainted connector which has a hole for a cotter key in the pin that is inserted into the pivot bracket. The connector itself is threaded so it can provide adjustment turning the rod into it and did not require the jamb nuts as the first one.
Any help on figuring out which is correct. As mentioned the painted one came with the assembly but I really cannot see how it secured to the pivot bracket, the second is from a 54 Chevy trunk linkage which is typically how I am accustomed to seeing these pins secured in a bracket with a washer and cotter key
.
Hmmm and suggestions.
Thanks!!
