    Better cam for 283/245?

    Hi all,

I have an original 283/245 '57 Corvette engine that I am going to restore. I was wondering if there might be a little better hydraulic cam to use, such as the 327/350 cam or something like that?

    Thanks,

    Bob

What compression ratio are you going to have with your rebuild?

What do you mean by "better"? The L-79 cam will make more top end power, but lose low end torque. How much time will you spend accelerating above 4000 versus below 4000?

Wanna make more top end power with another 500-1000 useable revs without losing low end torque or the smooth 500 rev idle... massage the heads, raise the CR to 10.25:1, and install a McCaw Special camshaft.
