    paint for 59 gauge cluster

What is the paint used on the gauge cluster of the 59 painted in red? I can't seem to find the paint code used. Off set paint has a different number than refinishing paint and I don't know what this means. Thanks for any help Patrick McPherson

    Patrick -

Un-buffed exterior lacquer - it was painted lying on the floor.

The major vendors sell an aerosol can of the correct red paint for interior metal parts. Use a self-etching primer first and then build up 4 or five layers so you see the correct color. I painted a kick panel last week with 2 coats and the color looked too dark and cloudy. After applying 6 coats, the color was right and the gloss was right; no sanding was required.

Were the kick panels and pass side fiberglass pieces(i.e. heater area surround & package tray) painted on the floor also?

Did they prime all of those pieces before lacquer?

i don't recall seeing outlines of all of those parts when I removed my carpet, but that was years ago. I have found primer under all of the interior pieces I have removed and sanded.

            Rich -

The upper and lower cluster was received in primer from the supplier; don't know for sure about the other floor-painted parts.
