    69 BB Master Cylinder

    Hi Everyone,
I've established that a past owner has fitted a non power brake master cylinder to my booster. Brakes aren't great and not sure if the wrong part is causing this? However' I would like to get some guidance on a correct MC. According to the TIM & JG the correct power MC part number is 5480346 but what is the best new unit to buy for originality? I see that paragon has one but I'm not sure if it's a GM Restoration part. Is there anyone else I should contact for refurb originals?

    Many thanks
    Grahame

Regardless of what the manual says, the casting number is 5460346 but that's a fine point----as long as you have a master cylinder with a casting number that ends in "346", you'll have the right one. This master cylinder has a bore which is 1-1/8".

There is a unit on the market now which is a GM Reproduction part and is virtually identical in appearance, including casting number, to the originals. This is probably carried by all the vendors now. I believe it's manufactured in China, though. Most of the major brake parts rebuilders can probably supply a sleeved original. Sources like Corvette Stainless Steel Brakes in Florida, Vette Brakes in Florida, Lonestar Caliper in Texas, and Stainless Steel Brakes Corporation in New York.
