I just noticed a set of NOS old hydraulic lifters 3799644 sell on ebay and the oiling hole seems to be higher like the edge oriface solids. Is there anything special about these lifters as there were 11 bidders and $127.

Re: 3799644 Hydraulic Lifter
Clem, Bill,
Thanks for that information, I had no idea there were short and long travel hydraulic lifters. The 3799644 is a short travel lifter according to the service paper so I guess you could use it in a 327 engine with hydraulic camshaft.
How does this lifter compare with the standard hydraulic lifter made today? What's interesting is the unfinished top portion of the lifter body. I think these look like the lifters in my spare 327/300hp engine that's sitting in the basement and never been apart.
At Carlisle a few years ago I bought a complete set of these lifters new in the old black GM boxes and after seeing them on ebay I wonder if they are a good lifter to use. I appreciate the input.- Top
