    72 Rallye wheels date code

What is the acceptable date code range for rallye wheels for the period prior to the production date of the vehicle (in my case Feb 16/72)? tx

    Lindsay,

EVERYTHING is 6 months, except glass (one year), unless something else is called out in the appropriate TIM&JG.

The NCRS Judging Reference Manual contains that time (and a whole lot more) information. TIM&JG has the exceptions (not wheels for 1972) -- both are available from the NCRS Store on the radio buttons at the top of this page.

Re: 72 Rallye wheels date code

I recently bought a 72 convertable with 68,000 miles which appears to be mostly original. It was built about april 20 and has three rallye wheels dated 10-27-71 and one dated 10-22-71 and a non rallye spare. This is about 6 months, so it appears 6 months is correct. Looking for a spare rallye with one of these dates.
          Thanks,
          Mike

The original rally wheels from my 1970 B05 (Feb 5th, 1970 build) were all dated Dec. 19th, 1969 - approx 6 weeks from the build date. BUT like Terry says, you're good to go if they are dated within the 6-month period.

And I should have pointed out that we only judge the date on the spare. You get a pass on the rest because either trim rings or wheel covers are installed on the car for judging and we can't see the dates on the road wheels.
