    1965 N36, Steering Wheel Step or No Step

    1965 Telescopic Wheel Option N36 steering wheel hub is flat, but the wheel is stepped on the lower spoke.
    GM could not have mounted the wheel in this manner. Any thoughts...

    Sounds like you have a 67 steering wheel.

      Yup - photos below show the "flat" '63-'66 wheel and the "stepped" '67 wheel.

        One of the many changes as a result of the "Motor Vehicle Safety Standards Act of 1966" Since amended MANY times to the everlasting inconvenience of automakers.
