    5TH Edition 63/64 judging guide

I am interested in the release date of the next edition of 63/64 JM . Is there any news of its release. I am preparing my 63 for a fall meet and maybe spring regional in 2013. It seems that there was some talk recently. Is anyone on the TDB working with the next edition? And have any ideas of some of the changes to come about? I am in need of a water pump for my 63 shp motor and I know that the present JM states early cars was a 609 and later 326. I am heading to carlisle next month and this will be on my list. Some of TDB members are saying there may have never been a 326 pump for 63.

Another question is when judging a car and the JM calls out for the 326 (un-dated) water pump and you have what the JM calls for, Can the judge decide to deduct for this pump?

Ed, I believe that the 326 pump was in 65, and your car should have a 609 pump. I'm not sure but I think that there was no date code. There was a very good discussion on this in the archives. I tried to find it for you but I can't. I think the thread was about JM errors, but it referenced both 609 and 326 pumps.

Paul, You are correct there is no date on the 63 pumps,Its a matter what happens during the judging process, I have read some posts a few months ago about the pumps. a 326 pump can be had easily and the 609 not so.I don't believe I have ever seen the 609 pump and during judging if with the pulley installed can you even read the numbers or tell the difference.

            Ed,

There was a post about this topic a few years ago and I am sure it's in the archives, if you have not read it check it out. I remember pictures showing the difference in the pumps around the relief for the water pump pulley next to the external bypass.

              Ed,

I agree with Paul. No 326 pump for any 63. Possible that it showed up for very late 64 production. Maybe.

That information and original dated print for the 326 pump was submitted for revision of the JG, along with over 100 others.
