    72 LT1 Holley gasket information

What type gasket was used between the carb and aluminum intake? Was it paper or foil backed? Also what type
of nuts are used to fasten the carb, What type, with or without washers and finish.
    Pics would be great............

    Thanks,
    Joe

    Joe,

Carb gasket is thick dark brown composite material. No metal, and I Would not describe it as paper either.

A recent thread with photos of the nuts:

Amazing what a search will turn up, but I remembered posting the photos. You might even see some of the gasket there too.

Edit add: BTW: Look at the five listed "similar threads" at the bottom of this page -- scroll down. One of them is exactly on topic for your gasket question. Ain't science wonderful?

      Terry,
Thanks. I did some searching last night and sometimes on the searches there are a large number of returned posts. It all depends
if you get the keywords correct for your search. Thanks for pointing me to the right info.

As Terry stated above, its more of a very dense cardboard type material, not foil or paper backed.

Valve covers are on the wrong sides.

Also, from what I can see of it, the oil pan looks to be incorrect.

It may have come back from the engine builder with the same pan it had when it was sent to him but that does not mean that it had the correct pan when it was sent to him.

Post a better photo and I'll be able to tell you. A complete side view will be fine.
