Thanks Roy, that is the most succinct and direct comparison between NCRS and Bloomington I have ever seen. It certainly draws the proper distinctions between the two groups, and as I know nothing of Bloomington, now I am not too interested in finding out any more about them. I'll stick with NCRS for my Corvette hobby.

My initial response was directed at auction houses for not exercising due diligence in confirming statements that could flasely have a profound effect on the end value of a vehicle and I certainly hope this thread stays directed at that process.

I am a firm believer that the reason the level of knowledge exists today that does with respect to Corvette Restoration and Preservation is because both NCRS and Bloomington exist, we exist collectively as a driving force in the hobby, state of the art restoration with respect to factory authenticity exists because of these two organizations.. For that reason and that reason alone the Corvette Hobby is 10 to 12 years ahead of most other marques. Some are just realizing trim tags even exist on their marques.

NCRS and Bloomington have together taken harsh stands against collector car fraud, and while it has taken us many years to get our acts similarly aligned they are today and that is another plus for the hobby.

Ken, they don’t say it was judged, they say it was "verified" what the H LL does that mean? I'm not sure its fraud but I bet you a court and attorneys would have a heyday with it.

They also said it was Bloomington Gold "1" condition whatever that means. Is that better than NCRS verified. I am with you auction houses need to be more carefull or no one will bid on the cars or go there. There less & less people going there now. Like Kruse & others they are killing the goose that layes the golden egg & trying to take the "car hobby" with them.

I can't argue with this Roy, as you know both much better than I do. But it seems to me that Bloomington would have a much harder time existing without NCRS than NCRS would have without Bloomington, since NCRS is the fountainhead of all knowledge and education about the Corvettes. NCRS is an amazing organization, and is unique among car organizations I am familiar with. The people at SAAC (Shelby American Auto Club) are tired of me mentioned how much better organized NCRS is and how much better documentation, education, and standards they have that is all transparent and readily available so a hobbyist can start off immediately and understand what needs to be done with a car to compete in the judging. I can't tell you how frustrating it is, over the last year, to try and find standards and just judging sheets and deductions (they don't exist at SAAC), while I am getting my '68 KR ready for the national next year. It is all word of mouth, ask the judges, they can't always agree, so you just wing it, search the internet and discussion boards, etc. Nothing is written down, no manuals, no standard deductions, etc. NCRS needs to preserve and protect their franchise, it is the best of the best, I will get off my soap box now...

35 years ago, in the infancy of NCRS, there was this dude making L88's, two or three a year, whispers on the local show fields. All the parts were less than 10 years from service date, meaning you could go to the Flint parts warehouse and buy every little thing you needed, then sell the car a long way away, after 40 years and a body off...no wonder someone doesn't want those build sheets to be found.
