    oil life reset

just changed the oil on the 2008 C-6. Read the service manual instructions (VOL I) which says to turn the ignition on, and with the engine NOT running, press the reset button which will reset the engine oil life remaining to 100%. My question is how do i turn on the ignition and not have the engine running? duh!

Don't step on the brake pedal? get the oil life up on the screen and then push and hold the reset button until you see it re-set to 100%

ok, i'll try it, but how do i turn on the ignition without starting the engine? accesory position doesnt work, i've tried that. I really want to know exactly what's meant by turning on the ignition since all we have is the green-lit button. what am i missing??

I am thinking about buying a C-6 but this is the reason I love my C-2/C-3'S I just look at the odameter & when it reads 3000 Mi more I change it again. I don't need a damn computer to tell me when to change oil. Guess I am jest a old fart!

I have always just started the car and scrolled to the engine oil life screen and held the reset button until it re-sets. It says 99% I suppose because it's running.

When you push the bottom of the green-lit button it should go to ACC and the small lite on the bottom comes on (I can't remember if it is red or yellow and I am too lazy to go to the garage and look). That is how you get to the accessory position. The oil life can be reset as Paul Harrington describes. Either way the max it will go to is 99%. I don't think there are three digits on the display.

                Ken,
Try it you will like it. You can read the Owner's Manual -- what a remarkable thought! Or you can play the DVD that comes with the car, or pay $500 for Museum Delivery and get someone to explain it to you. Took them about three hours to explain it to me. The Owner's Manual is like the Encyclopedia Britannica compared the to the Owner's Manual for my 1970.

Or you can post here or on Corvette Forum for the answer too.

Thanks Terry I would like to get a 08 or newer so we can take some trips in a Corvette. I don't trust the old cars anymore & the newer ones have a trunk & all the creature comforts.I also need a Corvette that will take the heat in AZ although I got back to IN June 1 & it was like I never left.

+1, and I got one late last year, finally, after refusing to own new Corvettes for 30 years. But I have to tell you, being able to build the engine yourself, take delivery at the Corvette Museum, and have pictures of the build the whole way in the factory is an amazing experience for an old C2 gear head. And BTW, the car is an absolute rocket ship and is so comfortable, quiet, and with handling and ride like a dream, I take it on all manner of trips now, and my '67 L71 is sitting in the garage a lot more now....

Thanks MIKE Don't know if I will get a new one or not. I hate to take the big deprecation hit the first two years & in Az. you don't pay sales tax on cars bought from the privet owners

Hold the accessory button in for several seconds and watch as you fool the car into thinking it is running ! HUD will come to life and all !!!!!
