Look at the tire...carefully. It could be a belt. It could also be failed wheel bearing. With the wheel on the car and off the ground, shake it back and forth. Did you previously hear a roar from the rear end? Other things that it could be is the differential or a bent spindle flange or yoke (although this is not very likely). Other than this, it could be somewhere in the brakes, but this is less likely than a bearing from what you describe.

thank's Paul, with the wheel off the ground I tried shaking it side to side and up and down
wheel seems tight no play,.I had both trailing arms off and sent them to our local corvette shop, known in the area for good and proper repairsmhe has all the tools to remove and set up bearings with proper shims etc. This was done about less than 100 miles ago.You have me thinking that a bearing has failed, would it be prudent to drive 30 miles on this or....
any other checks that I could do to provide concretely a bearing failure ??

Francis, Is the nosie when rolling straight ahead, taking a sharp turn, applying the brakes?

I would think that wheel bearings would not fail with a few hundred miles on them. generally bearing failure is a slow progress and hum going down the road and are speed sensative, faster you go the noiser.

Pauls post on the tires might be worth a closer inspection and maybe even swap the tires from front to back and see if the nosie changes to front when moving them around.

Also, Take a look where the u-bolts attach the half shaft to the rear yoke, if the yoke ends are wore (inside the rear) the end of the u-bolt will scrape the rear housing because it sits to close to the rear housing because of the yoke wear.

answer to problem,When I posted I failed to tell about the knock off wheels....
when doing the final test (removing Rt.front wheel and K.O.adaptor and swapping with the Rt.rear wheel and it's adaptor,I found a problem trying to get the adaptor on the rear axel hub.Upon close inspection the axel hub had a ding/and a slight lip
that would not allow the adaptor to fully draw up to therear hub,not really noticeable unless you were looking for it.
After filing /sanding the axel shaft and inside of the adaptor I was then able to fully bolt adaptor tight to the rear hub.
switching the total assembles front to back revealed the problem.THANKS to all who responded.
Francis ps with the new torque tool from Dennis Portka the K O's are now tight, like" my cousin Vinny" movie phrase balls tight)
