    Ceramic fuel filter element

I drove the '57 the other day.
Fell flat on its face when I tromped it.
Ran great if I stayed out of it.
Gott to be the fuel filter.
I have the same ceramic filter that came in the car when I bought the '57 in 2002.
Can the ceramic filters be cleaned, or is it best to replace ?
Found Ecklers has them, any good?

Dana, You maybe able to get the ceramic filters still at the auto parts, But may not be on the shelf, most stores have a warehouse near buy that may stock them. save your self the shipping on buying from a vender. Would not reuse by blowing it out you may just stir everthing up and get something lodged in the needle and seat. Save the old one and put it on the mantel.

I Just remembered you are talking about a C1 which is different than the C2/C3. that maybe a problem as they are configued different.

      Dana,

Clean it in laquer thinner, rinse in gas and then blow out from the down stream side (carb side).
Did that to my 62 15,000 miles ago and it is still fine.
I believe it stays clean due to cleaner gas from the pumps at the gas station.
