C3 Door Hinge Pin Removal - Door Off

I searched the forum and found good info on this but still left me with the following question. I have my driver's door off - unbolted from the hinges. What's the best way to get the hinge pins out without removing the hinges from the body? I took a quick try using a big C clamp and also a large hammer but the pin didn't budge. It's not rusty but I did go ahead and put some rust buster on it overnight. I saw someone had posted to actually cut them to make it easier. Any other ideas? Seems they could be driven out somehow.
    Thanks,
    Jack

Got the top pin mostly out with a big hammer. Won't be able to do that with the bottom one since there's no clearance but that hinge is easier to remove than the top one. I may try the idea of cutting it off.

Jack, if you look at the bottom of the hinge where that pin exits I think you will see that it is "staked". If you take a Dremel tool or a small file (files are sometimes hard to get positioned correctly) and remove that spot on the pin, it should come out relatively easy. Chip.

Ah ha! Perhaps that's the key I'm missing. Thanks Paul!

          Jack,
          Got your e-mail.
          The advice above is good
I soaked mine for a day or two in PB Blaster or something similar and then drove the pin up from the bottom just enough so I could grind one side of the head of the pin so that instead of the head being round it had a flat on one side and now looked like the letter D (You only need to grind the pin on the top hinge as the bottom hinge pin will not hit anyhting as you drive it up and out)
Line up the flat part of the ground head so the flat part faces the body and it will just slide by the body without nicking the fiberglass.
Go slow so you don't accidentally get misaligned and chip the body.
That is how I did all of mine on my 68 and it worked like a charm
          Kurt
