    WTH? Replacing Mid-Year battery...

Last year I had to replace the battery on my 67 SB with A/C. Removed the fender access panel, turned to front wheels all the way to the left, pulled the battery out. Didn't have to jack up the car or remove the left front wheel.

Now it's time to replace the battery in the 67 BB with A/C. I used the same procedure as on the 67 SB...but the battery won't clear the left front tire. Is there a difference in the 2 cars some way? Like a different amount the front wheels will turn in? I know it's not a big deal to take off the front wheel, but why are the cars different? Exact same tires and wheels on both cars. I know I'm getting old and forgetful, but dayum!

Larry, Is the big block sitting lower thereby closing the fender to tire gap?

Russ, if it is I can't discern it by looking at it. I just think it's odd that there is some kind of difference about changing the battery. If you have a C2, do you have to remove the left frong wheel?

        SB with out air.

Just throwing something else out there and I don't know if there is a difference, but are they both with (or with out) power steering? I am wondering if the one VS the other turns the wheel sharper.

Both have PS. This problem has me vexed a bit. I know it's not a big deal, but why the difference? Do you know if there is any difference between the front wheels with a BB vs. SB? The tracking, so to speak.

            Larry -

The chassis is identical between the two cars; the steering stop bracket on the back side of the lower control arm may be missing on your SB car, allowing more steering lock. Are the outer tie rod ends on both cars in the hole in the steering arm closest to the spindle?
