if you mean the entire fiberglass flapper ass. from the rest of the heater, remove the fresh air cable , take out the six 1/4" head screws and pry gently, if you are installing the new c central flapper, you must destroy the old one, cut the shaft with a die grinder and a small cut off wheel on the top and bottom, watch out and don't cut your fingers or any fiberglass

Or,,,,, Remove the old material from the flapper. Clean everything and paint. Close flapper and note where it contacts the housing. Now install a liner made of Velcro with adhesive to the inside of the housing and you have a new sealing surface without cutting anything. With the hose installed, who will know?
