    Posi vent tube fitting.

I need the specs for the right angle fitting that is used to vent the rear axle on a posi rear on the C-1's.. Also, are the fittings readily available in the local hardware stores or are they a "special" order type of deal.
    Thanks
    Steve.

I think it is a 1/4 pipe thread 90 degree brass, this may be a starting point anyway.

The fitting you need has 1/8in pipe threads on one end and 3/16in inverted flare on the other end.
The Weatherhead (carried by NAPA stores) part number is 402x3.
The Edelmann (carried by O'Reilly stores) part number is 122320.

MOST Weatherhead brass fittings have the W logo stamped on them, the Edelmann fittings usually are plain, thus, the Edelmann fitting MAY look a little more correct.
Oh, I'm sorry, I forgot, this is the NCRS forum and NOTHING short of a fitting that came out of an actual posi axle housing will be correct. Oh well-----------------------------------

              Re: Posi vent tube fitting.

I have an old 57 standard rear that I'm putting a posi in. I've had it sitting in the garage since 1974. I was looking for that breather on the axle housing and all I found was a mighty small hole on the driver side. Got the fitting dimensions and found out that 90* elbow is pretty common but that 1/8" pipe dimension was about double the size of the hole. A tap wasn't going to fit so I decided to drill it out. As luck would have it I started with a small bit and the next thing I know 35 years of crud comes out of the hole. Immediately stopped with the drill, gently cleaned out the remaining crud and the hole was already tapped. Installed everything without further adieu.
