Eastern Long Island, NY Corvette Specialist

Hi Fellow NCRS Members,
My name is Robert Harper and I am a fairly new member of NCRS and the Corvette community. I am astounded by the helpfulness and knowledge of NCRS members. I hope one of you can help me. I have a 1971 Coupe which is almost all original and need to find a reliable, knowledgeable, honest Corvette specialist in my area. I live on the North Fork of Long Island, NY in the town of Mattituck (which isn't close to anything!) For now, I just need some routine maintenance (oil change, tune up, lubrication), but I would like to establish a relationship with someone local who can help me in the event I ever need some bigger work done. Thanks for any help you can offer.

Don't know much about the distance between towns on Long Island - but at one time I had plenty of work done by Corvette Works, which was located in College Point. Don't know how close it is to what your looking for - but I was always pleased with his wook. Good luck.

Go see Dick Wheeler at Wheeler's Garage on Route 48 in Southold. Very good with older vehicles and has had a number of Corvettes through his shop.

Hello Alan,
Yes, this is my very first post and I hope I am responding appropriately. I'm not exactly a master of computer science! I am so impressed with the knowledge and willingness to help I have already received from NCRS members. Obviously, this is more than just owning a great car. If I can figure out how to do it, I'll attach a photo of my '71. It's a Steel Cities Gray Coupe with the standard 350 engine with a black interior. I had NCRS regional director John Ballard check it out for me before I bought it a year and a half ago and he was very impressed with it's originality. I just love it because it was the car I fell in love with when I was in High School. I recently retired after teaching music for 34 years and my wife helped me make this 40 year old dream a reality. If the photo comes attached, the car is mine, the guy is me, but the house is not!

Southold is just 10 minutes from my house. I really appreciate your taking the time to respond and for the advise. Hope to see you at an upcoming NCRS event (Laurel Lake Vineyard is also 10 minutes from my house.

A beautiful spot indeed! Nothing better than taking off the T-Tops and cruising the country backroads in a vintage Corvette! I also love the late C-1 and C-2 Corvettes. Maybe if I hit the Lotto?!

Welcome to NCRS! I feel somewhat responsible for getting you here - as I sold you that car and recommended this community. I'm glad you're enjoying the car and your dream. Once you become familiar with this site, your love for the car will explode as mine has over the past few years fro my car(s). You'll discover endless information using the search feature as well as posting your particular questions. Never be hesitant to rely on the experience of others. Afterall, that's the purpose of this forum.

Hello Tom! How good it is to hear from you and to be able to tell you that the car is everything I had hoped for and more. It seems so rare to purchase a Corvette from someone as honest and trustworthy as you. I realize now even more how fortunate I was. As you saw in my post, I'm just looking for someone to do a tune up, oil change, and lubrication. There have been no other issues. If I can figure out a way to post a picture, I'll do that. I joined NCRS as soon as I purchased the car. I am in awe of the knowledge and willingness to help from members. I have been taking advantage of the discussion group questions but just posted my first question yesterday. I already received several answers and 2 possible garages. I will continue to rely on the experience of others and hope you will stay in touch. I wish you the best with your cars and hope your restoration is going well. Enjoy the season and pop the T-tops!

PS The chapter is having our annual corvette cruise to Laurel Lake vineyard on Nov 4th to raise funds for The Wounded Warrior Project, last year we had over 40 vettes attend

You can also try Jon at Corvette Connection on lakeland avenue in Bohemia. It is bit of a ride for you but well worth the trip. He has done my entire interior, installed Dewitts radiator , A/Cwork and exhaust on my 74 convertible. Guenter

I know Corvette Connection well as they are across the street from Dynamite Tools and I am an amateur cabinet maker. It is a bit of a ride, but quality work is always worth the trip. Thanks for taking the time to reply.
