    3247 Holley Number Question

I was hoping someone could clarify for me what the GM carb number suffix "E1" might indicate?
    My L72 Holley is 3886101 List-3247 504 (1965 October 4th week)
There is an 'original survivor 3247' for sale with photo showing stamping 3886101 E1 List-3247 614 (1966, Jan, 4th week)
    What does the E1 designate?
Thanks for any info, much appreciated.

Don, I don't know the answer about the "E1" carb question, but my 66 L72 carb 3886101 list 3247 date 593, like yours, does not have the E1 designation. Of the nine 3247's I saw on ebay today, some did not have a date shown and others were clearly produced after the 66 Vette production run.

Thanks Glen. I noticed in the 1966 judging manual there is a 3247 airhorn photo and the 3886101 does not have any suffix. I know the replacement/service carbs have later dates and codes, but this auction sale 3247 I viewed is a Jan 1966 3-digit date code and listed as 'original survivor' so I was curious...

          Donald -

Holley made many later runs of re-issues that had nothing at all stamped on the choke air horn, for the resellers to stamp to meet customer requirements. The text in the '66 JG also indicates that there was no prefix or suffix stamped with the GM part number on original carburetors.

Donald, Corvette by the Numbers book talks about the suffix in the first paragraph of section 3.1 on page 182, also on page 189 there is a chart listing the 3247 as part # 3886101 EI which I interpret from the section to mean the suffix code designates that the EI carburetor is specifically for the 1966 427-425 HP corvette. Oops! I meant to say the Holley LIST number, not the GM part number.
