1958 Heater core elbow

Trying to install the heater core elbow but one side is 5/8 and the other side appears to be 3/4. The books I have read say to cut a length of heater hose and fit it on with corbin clamps holding it but for the life of me it will not fit on a 5/8 hose. What am I missing

58 uses a 5/8 x 5/8 copper elbow that 5/8 x 3/4 is a 59 to 62
