Bought a '54; looking for an article in Summer 1986 issue of The Corvette Restorer

Being relatively new to NCRS I'm not sure if this is an appropriate request or not. If it's not, please ignore with my apologies. This past Saturday I bought a '54 Corvette (picture attached). I have since learned that there is an article in the Summer 1986 (Vol. 13, No. 1) issue of the Restorer, on page 11, about the restoration of my car. The article is entitled "The Restoration of E54S001814," by Joe Trybulec. While over the past year I have managed to collect 82% of all Corvette Restorer issues through eBay purchases, I don't have that issue. Wouldn't you know it! I sure would appreciate it if someone would be willing to scan that article and email it to me.

My wife and I made the 1100 mile round-trip from Northern VA to Detroit, MI, to see the car on Saturday. A tiring but very worthwhile weekend. Hoping the car will be transported to me this week. Pretty exciting!

Sorry, I can't help with the article but I just wanted to say nice car.

Where was the car located in the Detroit area? I grew up there.

Incidentally, I also lived for 5 years in Fairfax county before moving to Georgia.

The picture below was taken right after I restored the car ( about 1985 ) at Snow White Nursery where by kids went. It is a great and very original car.

Hope you enjoy it.

If you drive into the DC area with the car....stop by and see my daughter Carrie in Bethesda at the Gandhi center on Western Ave. She was a kid when this picture was taken. Not sure if it still has the same paint...but the Sportsman red I sprayed came out great back in the day.

Have lots more pictures I will provide you once I find them. I entered the car in a car show at Albrecht-Hamlin Chevrolet. Took all five top awards and sold the car on the spot to owner of the dealership.
I never had it NCRS judged..but the drivetrain was original when I sold it. Engine, Head, carbs, air cleaners, distributor, transmission, etc..

Check behind the front emblem and let me know if you find something unusual. As I recall I used an unusual item to hold it in place

Thanks, Joe, for the reply and the great picture. My daughter and her husband live in DC. It would be fun to take the car for your daughter to see it sometime. I will definitely check behind the emblem when the car arrives.

Found one more on my computer taken at Spirit of St.Louis Airport. After a 10 ft flood the airport closed and I believe it is now a mall. Email me and when I find more I will send them.

It has been about 30 years but I seem to remember that when I was redoing the drivers side door upholstery...I noticed a round manufacturers stamp on the inside fiberglass shell. I wrote Sam Folz about it and later saw him at the convention in St.Louis. He had not seen the stamp before.

Might be something for you to photogragh and post in the future.

Alan, thank you. I do have a fax machine, but it's a thermal printer and the quality would be poor. Scan would be best. I would really appreciate it, as you might imagine if you just bought a car and found out there is a Restorer article about it from 26 years ago. I will PM to you with my email address.
