The time has come to replace the front of my '67's carpet. The carpet in the back of the car from the seats back is super, but the front set has some worn spots and it is black showing some discolorations. Who makes the best replacement carpet? I assume it is 80/20 loop and I should also replace the underlayment material. It appears this is not a difficult job that I could do myself, right? Any recommendations welcome. Thanks.

Re: 1967 Front Carpet Replacement
I did, just checking to see if the consensus was still Al Knoch (their factory is near me) and their "original equipment underlay". Sometimes a new vendor emerges with better quality and fit, just checking before I spend $500.Big Tanks In the High Mountains of New Mexico- Top

Mike, I think you can request "correct" white stitching on the borders of the carpet...but it's only when you request it...maybe some other members can chime in if they have done before...good luck..- Top

Re: 1967 Front Carpet Replacement
I stopped by Al's factory yesterday and got the carpet ordered after looking around and asking questions. He was curious about the white thread request. After I told him of the reason, he went into his back area and pulled a few original '67 rugs. None of them had white thread, they were green, brown, black, and a funky yellowish color. But they all had chain stitching so I made sure they used that as it was the original stitch. I also went ahead with the white thread, maybe some day the judges will look at Al's collection and change their minds
