1967 427/390 hp pcv hose bracket

    Hello,
I am not sure which intake manifold bolt my pcv hose bracket is bolted to. Should there also be a second hose bracket located on the right side attached to the carburetor stud?
Also what should it be painted black or engine orange.
The car is a November 1966 car.
    Thanks,
    John

    p.s. pictures would be great!

    John -

Your L-36 only has one PCV hose clip, attached under the right front carburetor attaching nut, and it's phosphated; there is no other bracket under an intake manifold bolt. The installation is shown in your Assembly Manual in section L36, sheet A9, item #9.

Thanks John, but when the engine was pulled for rebuilding there was only one bracket and it was located on the left side of the engine, bolted to the second bolt in on the intake manifold. I am so confused.
I thank you again for your information and I will pull out the assembly manual.

The only bracket under an intake manifold bolt on the forward driver's side of an L-36 is the accelerator return spring bracket, which came as part of the engine and was painted orange; it's shown in the L36 section, sheet A10.

John, 66 and 67 390 HP were assembled differently?

            John,

I think that would be correct for a 390 HP engine?. One bracket under the 2nd intake bolt on the left side. That's the way it is for 66 but I'm not sure about 67.

Nope, they were identical - same PCV hose, same PCV valve, same hose clip from the carb stud.

so John are you saying a Corvette does not use this bracket used on my 1966 Chevelle with a 396 using the 948 intake. along the clip on the carb stud(not shown)

                  Keith -

The '66 Corvette L-36 used that secondary PCV hose clip on the driver's side, but the '67 Corvette L-36 didn't; the hose and valve part numbers were the same for both years.

                    John,

I'm sure that 66 390 HP used the left side intake manifold bolt mounted hose support. (not sure on 67) I've seen too many original 390 HP cars to think it wasn't supposed to be there. I suppose if it were painted orange, it would have been installed at Tonawanda and therefore not shown in the AIM.

I don't think the one shown for the 425 HP in the 66 AIM is the same one used for 390 HP. Different part and part number.

so the 67 L-36 only got the one pictured in my picture. and none at the carb on the drivers side. but 66 used both.

                        Keith,

I remember only one for 66 and 67 with 390 HP. The one on the left, same as in the picture.

                          John,

Is the carburetor stud mounted clip shown in the L36/390 HP section of the 67 AIM a 3846117? If so, that would be the same as the clip shown for 66 425 HP. (I don't have a 67 AIM here)

The L36/390 HP section of the 66 AIM may be missing pages? It only shows sheets C1, C2 and C3.

                            Michael -

The 6117 clip off the carb stud is shown in the A.I.M. for both '66 and '67.

Three pages is all the '66 L-36 section ever had - that section doesn't have a separate Index Sheet - the index of pages is shown at the top of sheet A1.

The '66 L-36 driver's side Tonawanda-installed/painted PCV hose clip isn't shown in the '66 A.I.M., but it's clearly described in the latest '66 JG on page 107.

Thanks John. I see the carb stud mounted clip in the 66 AIM for 425 HP but not for 390 HP.
