    '69 427 fan blade #3888366

    Can someone tell me if the part# is stamped on these blades? My brother-in-law destroyed his yesterday, along with the radiator. He wants an original if he can find one and neither of us know if the part# is on the blade since it hasn't come apart yet. Thanks!!

    The 3888366 fan blade was made by the Hayes-Albion Company and is stamped "H" (for obvious reasons), "FRONT", and the number "66". This fan has 5 blades, a 17 1/2" dia., 2 1/4" pitch, 3" bolt circle, and was original equipment on 66-67 Corvettes (427) and 68-70 Corvettes ( exc. A.C.). The number "66" is part of the Hayes-Albion part number , not the GM part number.

    The 3888366 fan was discontinued in April 1971 and replaced with the 3955182 fan (17 1/2" dia. w/7 blades) which was original equipment on the 70 Corvette (350) w/A.C.

          Yes, the 3955182 was was used on the 1969 Corvette (427) w/A.C. and the 1970 Corvette (350) w/A.C. I believe that these were the only factory installed applications. It was sold over the counter for many years. You could buy one from Chevrolet for $39.50 (list), $29.63 with a discount in March 1991. The 3955182 fan was made by the Schwitzer Company (Sch. part # 914166) and were date coded. Ralph's fan is dated "H84" (August 1984).

              Apparently Schwitzer changed their date code system.
              "96347" = 1996, 347th day
              The 3955182 fan sold for $78.25 (list), $58.69 discount in July 1994 and $115.33 ($86.50) in Nov. 2001.

              Schwitzer probably changed the date code system so that they could confuse NCRS members.
