Guys, I just got my new 61 this week and I'm excited as heck about it. In a previous thread I had mentioned my intent was to judge it as I received it to get a baseline and know where the car stands. I did join my local chapter but just missed (by about 2 weeks) a local judging meet.
So I want to try to do this myself as best as I can. I bought the judging manual and guide. I've printed out the scoring sheets. My problem is that the deductions for major components are spelled out pretty well in section 4 of the judging guide but for all the little things I have no clue how to deduct. For example, and this is totally random, but suppose that my WonderBar radio works but it shows some pitting and age. Or suppose that one of the 4 headlights doesn't work (not true, but just an example), or that the tachometer bounces or that the cigarette lighter doesn't work. How do you figure out how much to deduct for the myriad of possibilities?
I'm guessing it's something that is learned over time? If that's the case it's going to be difficult for me to give the car a self-assessed score of any precision.
I appreciate any input.
