The LT-1 has 2" exhaust leaving the manifolds, then changes to 2 1/2", but does it stay 2 1/2" clear to the tail tip?, I am missing the exhaust, soon to order, and Oaragon makes a decent close copy of the exhaust extension tips, but I think there 2", not 2 1/2", when I got the car it had a non correct 2" system, so I don't know what is correct, thanks Ron

Re: 1971 LT-1 Exhaust Tip ?
The short piece of pipe that EXITS the muffler is 2 inches in diameter so that the same tips work on base as well as optional exhaust systems.
The generic stainless tips are the same no matter where you buy them. The only one that's even close is the tip that Richard Fortier makes.

Re: 1971 LT-1 Exhaust Tip ?
Ronald over 20 years ago GM brought back new exhaust tips for our generation of C3's. I ordered a pair for my 1970 when the parts man at my local Chevrolet dealership told me about the new parts available. I did not plan to use them right away and just stored the new pair. My mistake was not to take them out of the GM boxes and examine them both, only did one. Later about 5 years ago I opened up the other box and found the tips were for the same side although each box had a different part number. Checked with GM when I discovered the wrong tip in the part box and they still had only one side still available. But my luck as usual, it was for same side I have two of.- Top

Richard Fortiers tips are about perfect.
There is an instance where a point or two was deducted for being too nice. I have my original 70 tips and they are identical to Richards so I do not agree with the deduct. Side by side they are indistinguishable. Mine is an early 70 so they are unique in that there is no part number or seam. Even the chrome is a tiny bit grainy like my originals. Bubba welded the pipes to the originals so they would be difficult to salvage which is why I bought from Richard.- Top

I haven't purchased any from Richard yet, but he did tell me he could apply a less shiny flash chrome if I wanted, so hopefully these would not bring a deduct.- Top
