I'm doing a mild refresh of the rear compartments in my '69. The bezels on the topside that the release buttons fit into are totally rusted on the top facing side, however after removing the latch buttons and bezels there is plenty of original LeMans Blue body color paint evident on the underside of the bezels. I'm sure that the paint is original because this car had a respray performed about 20 years ago and the paint used was more like the medium metallic blue of '73 & '74 (i.e. several shades lighter than the original LeMans Blue).
The TIM&JG describe the plastic trim on the compartment doors as being painted "interior color", which on this car was trim code 411 (Bright Blue Vinyl). My question is: Should I paint the bezels bright blue as might be inferred from the JG (though the JG doesn't specifically state the color of the bezels) or body paint color (LeMans Blue) as evidenced by the original paint on the underside of the bezels?
Thanx
