    1970 smog pump

What are the points deductions for not having the smog pump system installed when being judged?

      Scott,

Not all '70's had the smog pump. Be sure to check to see if you need one. Some '70's were outfitted with some type of timing advance that eliminated the need for the smog pump. Don't recall what it is called I hope someone will chime in who knows more about 70's.

Thanks, Terry. The car is a 1970 LT-1 and is a California car. Where do I find the judging sheets posted on the NCRS Web site that Dick referred to?

Eric my 1970 350/300 did not come from the factory with a smog pump. The device you refer to may be the electrical control solenoid that controlled vacuum to the distributors vacuum advance unit. Very easily to disable, just connect vacuum hose directly from the carb to the distributors vacuum advance. This full time vacuum change improves in the city gas mileage and helps engine run cooler in stop and go traffic. No need to remove the electrical controlled solenoid from the intake. The device is Transmission Controlled Spark (TCS)
