Re: Changing C2 Trailing Arms
Joe,Just a note, Tom's sets his 31 spline axles to 10 in/lb preload and they work fine but I stay with 0015-002. I am building a set of 31's now and just set them up. Checking endplay is very subjective to loading, I was able to get 0015-002 but they also have a near preload condition as checked in normal state. They are smooth, no lateral play, and I expect them to last many thousands of miles of abusive racing. The 31's use the larger bearings on both inner & outer and a different inner cup. The way the video shows setting the play appears to be by feel and that is only one of several things I saw that was concerning. I think there is a wide range of tolerance they may run at, hence the 001-008 endplay but that is general setup. Holding tight tolerance work requires precise measurement and machine tools to achive, I didn't see anything remotely close there.- Top

Matt, here's an old article by Gary. I guess you ignore the press as he just said he does'nt use it anymore. I've found his articles very helpful.
