Direction interior door knob lock

What direction should the interior knob lock point when in the open position? I'm wondering if there is a correct direction

My 68 has both left and right knobs with the painted black insert, parallel to the ground when the doors are in the unlocked position.

I agree with Jack. That is the correct orientation.

Thanks for the quick reply. I accidently selected 68/69 but meant to select 58/59 so if anyone has comment about that year it would be great.

John....this is subject to correction as it's been a while...but if I recall correctly it should face down in the locked position and towards the rear of the car in the open position...
