    89' Fuel Injector Replacement Problems

I am in the middle of trying to replace the fuel injectors on the 89'. The ONLY problem I have is getting the primary fuel line at the fuel rail to quit shooting gas. The fuel is coming at a very steady, solid pace from the fuel pump side, NOT leaking back from the fuel rail. The car hasn't been run for a few weeks. The power is disconnected, the vacuum has been released (I think) by removing the fuel cap. It just keeps coming and coming, I bet I have lost at least 1/2 gallon of gas to this point. Obviously, I had to hook the line back up and stop all together. So.......what am I missing?

You are creating a syphoning effect causing the fuel to continuously drain out. You must either lower the fuel tank fuel level OR raise the front of the car above the level of the fuel tank fuel outlet.

Also, on a different topic, if you wish to keep your car as original as possible for future NCRS judging, you should consider sending your original injectors to Jon Banner at Fuel Injector Connection (FIC) in Cummings, GA. Jon does excellent work rebuilding and flow-balancing C4 OEM injectors. Make sure you tell him the injectors are for an NCRS Top Flight car. Check it out....

Fuel Injector Connection is the leader in high performance fuel injectors from top manufacturers including Bosch, Siemens, and Lucas.

You guys were correct, thanks! I just didn't realize that there was that much gas in the tank. Next problem.....I am having trouble pulling the fuel rail assembly out of the intake. Everything is unbolted. The assembly wiggles left and right but not up and down in order to pull it out.

The "O" rings will tend to stick, sometimes a soft hammer in the down direction will help loosen, otherwise just keep upward pressure and work them around.
