    085 Ignition Coil

I have been unable to determine what car or cars the 1115085 coil was used on. It is much closer in design to the 091 that my car came out with than the 202 coil that I am currently running. The 085 is a 12V coil with no square shoulders at the base of the neck and it has the correct "keepers" to hold down the lead wires.

Is there any danger to my car in installing the 085 coil to see if it will make my car run? Do 12V coils either work or they don't?

Joe, I can't tell you what the original application of the 085 coil was but I've used one on my '56 for years. And you are correct in that the configuration is like that which an early 091 would exhibit. Bernie Myers

Thanks Bernard for the info. The coil is in good condition and I will install it and see if it works. If it works, it will be my new coil.

I looked at the x-ray of the interior of the coil as it passed through airport security at Chicago O'Hare, twice! Luckily the young man watching the screen asked me if it was a car part and I answered yes. He waved it through the second time. I realize that the coil casing is not thick steel, but the x-ray machine must generate a powerful beam to penetrate thin steel.
