I looked thru the past threads about the mid year exhaust panel and found most of the info I needed. But I noticed one unusual feature on my 67 panel that hasn't been mentioned. The 3 holes thru which the bezel studs fit on the backside are a cream white color but the rest of the entire panel is dark gray. The panel has not been modified and only the 3 stud mount areas have this cream color. This is the case for both bezel mounts. I used a cleaner to make sure it wasn't paint and it appears to be original cream color fiberglass. The panel has the raised letter/number code DT 40-1868. Anyone notice this feature before?

Re: 66-67 Exhaust Panel Question
I am not sure if you mean the fiberglass is a different color, but the factory hung the panel off of the rear by two bolts for paint. This means that two bolt holes, the ones next to the outside, will not have paint, and the body under the panel will not have paint.
66-67 panels generally ranged from light gray early to dark, almost black, late. Sometimes there will be some discolorations in places. I have seen light spots, like patches.- Top

Re: 66-67 Exhaust Panel Question
Wayne: Appreciate your reply. I'm referring to the bezel area not the upper part of the panel where it was attached for painting. These white areas are on the backside of the panel and only where the bezel stud goes thru the panel.
