    Trunk Matt Repair

I was able to find a very old GM repaceent Matt for my 61. It has been rolled up for many years and the result it it won't lay flat. I have a heat gun but am afraid to use it in th event it ruins the Matt. I am presently laying it out in the sun every day dark side up and it is improving but I am not optimistic it will ever lay out flt on its own. Any experiences on that? Also it has a small tear that if glued properly will be OK. Suggestions? Lastly. The Matt is a non black Matt. Per NCRS Judging manual the part # is stamped on the location indicated with an ink stamp embossed like the GM replacements. I understand that the embossed portion can be removed, Painted and there is a ink stamp available to make it back to absolute factory original. Looking for that if anyone knows anthing about it.

    Thanks in advance,

Jack I had the same issue, and laying it out in the sun black side up is the best.. sometimes you can drap it over the roof black side up and when it gets hot it will take all the rolls out

Thanks All. I live in Florida so it gets plenty hot. I will stay with that method. Jut have to be patient. It was rolled up for at least 30 years soI guess I can wait a little while. Right?

      Regards,
