    Oil advise

    Hello,
    I have a C1 Corvette 1961 with 4 speed transmission.
Can somebody tell me the originally oil-specs for my car?
    Engine, transmission and rear axle.
    Like to here from you.

    Re: Oil advise

The best I can tell you is that in 1963 the engine oil spec was "MS", and I think that was also around in '61. Of course, it is long obsolete.

Read the following article starting on page 3.

I think the European equivalent spec to API CJ-4 is ACEA E7, but I'm not absolutely positive.

The original spec for the gearbox and axle was Mil-L-2105. This U. S. mil spec has been cancelled and replaced by API 80W-90 GL-5. I'm not sure this spec is used in Europe or something equivalent, but a little googling will probably get you the European equivalent for for both GL-5 and CJ-4

If the axle is Positraction you need the anti-chatter additive, which should be the same as any European manufacturer, like Daimler Benz that offers clutch-type limited slip diffs.
