    1970 Convertible Upper Windshield Molding

Does anyone know if the Upper Windshield Molding (Not the flat stainless piece on top, but the the one that goes along the top of the windshield) requires sealer when installed or is it held in place just with the clips attached to the upper windshield frame? Thanks Terry

I am not sure about "requiring" sealer, but every one I have seen, even those that were new in 1970, had sealer. Maybe they all leaked without it.

Take a look in the AIM. If sealer is "required" you will see a note with a numbered drop shaped symbol by the molding. Look up the number int he front of the AIM and it will tell you the GM part number (not that that will do you any good) for the sealant and sometimes the supplier, not that that will do you any good either.

Yes, rarely, if ever, were GM adhesive and lubricant products used in PRODUCTION ever available in SERVICE, at least under the part numbers shown in the AIM. This is because the part numbers shown are for the products supplied in bulk or giant-sized unit quantities to the assembly plant. In some case, the product was available in SERVICE but under a different part number for a consumer-size quantity.

Thanks Terry. I'll take another look at the AIM manual, last time I looked, it wasn't all that clear.
