PM-16 Oil Filter Canister - one circle instead of two.

Would Joe L or anyone else who knows please let me know if this is a vette filter canister? If so, what years?
The instructions say all the same info as the label with two circles, but this one lost a circle.
The can is 6 3/4" (or perhaps 6 13/16") tall.
(I carefully searched the archives and was unable to find the answer to this question).

    thanks Ray,
to make my question as specific as possible, would this canister receive full credit as to originality for a
    65 L76 in judging?

    Don,

All Chevrolet V8 engines used the metal canister which required the PF-141 oil filter cartridge from 1958 to 1967. This includes all Corvettes, Chev pass cars and light trucks. Some special applications of 68-69 pass cars and light trucks also used it. As you say, we normally see it with a double circle arrangement for the AC logo.

        Don,

After viewing the photo that Michael just posted, I tend to think not; but maybe the judges have seen your style before.

As far as the canister configuration goes, it's correct for 1958-67 Corvettes and many other cars and trucks of that period. As far as the labeling goes, I don't know. Oil canister labels are not something I've ever really studied. However, keep in mind that these canisters were used over the 1958-69 period (although were not used on 68-69 Corvettes) and were used on an absolute PLETHORA of GM applications. So, over the 12 year period and considering all the applications there were many millions of these things manufactured. I strongly doubt that labeling was the same throughout the period or, even, the same for all manufactured in a given model year. However, based on the style of the label pictured, I'm going to venture a guess that this canister was originally installed on an earlier model, maybe 1958-60.

            thanks Joe, Mike and Ray.
If none of you experts can pin down if this can belongs on a 65 L76, probably no one can. I know the two circle version well. I have the decal instructions on my restored can now.
But would like an old original can in decent old patina for my unrestored car if I could find it. I hoped this can might be it. But I think this one will remain wall art for now. Thanks though.
