NCRS Shipping Data Report v NICB Report

Received the NCRS "Shipping Data Report" (SDR) couple of days ago. Thank you Roy. Compared it to the National Insurance Crime Bureau (NICB) report I have for my car. The NICB report has been discussed in other posts on this forum if you're interested in knowing more about it. The purpose behind this post is to share information regarding these two reports with other NCRS members.

Both reports were consistent with each other. According to both reports, my car was originally delievered to Dealer code 459 in zone 42, Williams and Swanson in Renton, WA. The SDR indicates that the GM official Production Date was 3/24/66. The NICB report has information that the SDR does not contain. The NICB indicates that my car was shipped 3/28/66. It also indicates an Inv#. If the car had been stolen and reported or if the car had been crashed and reported, this information would also appear on the NICB report. Fortunately, the NICB report does not indicate that my car was ever stolen and reported or crashed and reported.

On a final note, the dealership, Williams & Swanson, was sold several years ago. I forget what the new dealers name is, but they claim not to have any of the old dealership's records. If you need to find out the current dealers name and contact information, this can easily be done on google, or email me and I'll get the information for you.

My quest to obtain further information on my car continues. I was recently advised that Noland Adams has information on my car. I sent him an email message and have not heard from him to date. Hope he gets back to me.

Hector, you are very fortunate to have the NICB report. Access to that data base has been restricted to the point it is almost impossible to get info unless a vehicle is stolen. Any access, other than that is strictly controlled. Access is by law enforcement only and must include a valid case number

I have a couple of NATB (National Automobile Theft Bureau, predecessor to NICB) and they have quite a bit of info. No, they are not Corvette, don't anyone get their hopes up.

      Hector !

Noland was recently injured in a fall at his home. I do not know his status as of today, but that is most likely the reason you have not yet heard from him.

Hi Dick. Yes, I know. I was fortunate to get it several years ago.

Thanks Tom for the information. I hope Noland is doing well.

In regard to whether the information would be in his book, I've checked...many times...and it's not in there. My understanding is that he has information on my car and just didn't use it in his book. That's just what I was told, don't know for sure if that's the case. I try never to leave a stone unturned. Unfortunately, those damn stones keep dropping on my fingers. Oh well, some day.

Hector I have a 72 LT-1 and I got the shipping data report from Roy but it could not tell me who the dealer was. Can you get me any information on my car? Serial number is 1Z37L2S520673. The delivery date is 5/8/72 and dealer code is 418 in zone 8. The dealer is believed to begin with M and be located in Ga.,TN,or SC. Thanks for any help you can provide. Rick Matthews

Hi Rick, love to help, but that information is not available to me. I'm not sure if it is available to anyone now. I obtained this information many years ago. If you have any contacts with law enforcement you might want to check with them. Typicallly, law enforcement task forces dealing with auto theft rings have the ability to run this information. I'm not sure if there are any privacy, legal or ethical issues involved, but it doesn't hurt to ask. Good luck.
