Re: 67 Fuel Pump Bolts (two large ones)

I have several different types of original Chev. fuel pump bolts but apparently I have temporary misplaced them. However, I came across a box of NOS 65-74 BB fuel pump bolts, GM # 3874876. The hex is 7/16" and the effective length (not counting the attached lock washer) measures 1.27" (total length measures 1.46"). The thread length measures 1.10". The "washer head" measures 0.67" in dia. The lock washer measures 0.64" O.D. The marking looks something like a strange looking letter "F" (see sketch). The box is dated Jan. 1994.

Pictured below is a pair of fuel pump bolts that I removed from a 1966 Chevrolet 283 w/4bbl. carb many years ago. They are similar to those pictured in Scott's photo (June 2nd @ 5:51 PM) except my bolts do not have the "dot" under the "B" in the "RBW" logo. My bolts have a dimple at the center about 0.10" in diameter. The 7/16" hex head bolt effective length measures 1.10", thread length measures 1.0", and the overall length measures 1.32". I also have another pair of these same exact "RBW" bolts from a 1965 Chev. truck w/348 engine "T1113YM" (Nov. 13, 1964).

I also have the following original fuel pump bolts (not pictured) that have the same measurements but different head markings as follows:

      1961 Chev. v8 w/4bbl. "T0403DB" (April 3, 1961) and 1962 Chev. truck 283
      head marking: "E" w/ 3 radial line segments spaced @ 120 degrees, 0.10" dia. dimple @ center

      1962 Chev. truck V8 "T0916D" (Sept. 16, 1961)
      head marking: "B & H" w/ 3 radial line segments at 9:00, 12:00, and 3:00 positions

NOS 3751842 fuel pump bolts (gray) purchased 2/18/82
head marking: "J" w/3 radial line segments at 9:00, 12:00, and 3:00 positions

I also have a few original fuel pump bolts with 9/16" hex heads.

Well, I guess no one has bolts like mine for a late June 67 SB 327/300. See post #6 above. The bolts have no washer head or flange, just a black phosphate bolt (recessed head with an Anchor marking) and with a lock washer.

Honest, the fuel pump and bolts in the photo, were original to the car. The bottom of the pump actually had pinholes in it before I took it off for the first time and restored it. But I use a replacement for driving.

I think your bolts are the GM #3778526, just as they should be. They're the same as the ones originally installed on my 1969.

            Jerry,

I have 3 sets of 9/16" hex head fuel pump bolts with captive lock washers that I collected years ago. By effective length I mean the distance from the tip of the bolt to the bottom side of the head.

            photo on left
            logo: anchor symbol
            effective length: 1 3/8", thread length 1 1/8"
            total length 1 5/8"
            gray coating (silver cadmium???)
from NOS AC fuel pump stamped "4657KE" (November 1965) with "65" casting in hole

            photo in center
logo: anchor symbol and large "T" (exactly like your bolts except 1/16" shorter - see your June 2nd post @ 9:10 PM)
The anchor is slightly tilted to the right like yours.
            effective length 1 7/16", thread length 1 1/4"
            total length 1 3/4"
            black phosphate
            from 1964 Chevrolet w/283

            photo on right
logo: "E" inside 4 circles, 3 radial line segments at 12:00, 3:00, and 6;00 clock positions
            effective length: 1 1/2", thread length 1 5/16"
            total length 1 25/32"
            black phosphate
from some junk yard in the Historic Bay State
