Looks like a 1966-1967 front grille. Amazing that anyone would leave a great old car like this in a falling down shack.

There will always be barn finds, maybe not as many as past years because of the value, but they'll still be there. The depreciation on a car that's driven is tremendous. Combine that with waning interest in the car (you know, the person says "I'm gonna fix it up some day") and you have the makings of the next barn find.

I've been after a 65 396 roadster that has been parked in the original owners garage since the early 70's. He put it there because of a spun bearing and he keeps telling me he's "going to fix it some day". He's now in his 70's and his health is failing but still refuses to sell the car. Hopefully I can get it from his kids when he passes.

That is an interesting view on a car being driven and depreciation. I think it is far better to drive one than to let it sit and be a trophy or barn find, I know that there are many who like to see our cars on the road.

I agree. I was making an observation based on market values and what sometimes happens when the cost of restoration far exceeds the potential value. While this is not the best source for this, the results of the Mecum auction from two weeks ago is available on thier web site. You can see what happens if your restoration is not "crisp". It seems that more barn finds were out there in the 70's and 80's, but when the values went up in the 90's these cars became candidates for restoration. There are still some cars out there from years ago, but I think that a few still make it to the shed especially when it was an average driver and then something happens to it which isn't in the owner's budget or present interests.

I pulled the gem out of the barn yesterday. It's beautiful! I'm so excited.

I've been driving for 27 years and that license plate hasn't been in circulation during that time! I remember it though

Was this car found in the Knoxville area? I'm up here in the tri-cities area BTW.

Very cool, these are awesome stories. Carlisle had a barn find collection last year and its one of the coolest exhibits I've ever seen.

Barnfinds website also has some interesting finds
