Re: Delco Distributor cap patent pending R
I have the Delco-Remy Patent Pending "R" cap going back to 1969. The Delco-Remy Patent Pending "R" cap came in copper, brass, and aluminum terminals.- Top

Re: Delco Distributor cap patent pending R
Ralph, I hate to put it this way but, the caps are worth what someone will pay for them. I sell my used caps on the level of condition. The range is from $75-$125 for a used cap. NOS caps are in a different price range.- Top

I agree with Mike used caps value is like real-estate except it is called condition, condition, condition. You can go to swap meets and find them at all pricing levels I personally have purchased them as low as .50 cents and have seen fair condition ones at $100 but in great condition or all most NOS new in the box condition for $150 is typical.- Top

Re: Delco Distributor cap patent pending R
I'm slowly trying to get my car back to "as original" as possible and was wondering who sells the most accurate replacement cap for a 69' L68? It's difficult when i live in Oz.

The only cap being reproduced is the Patent Pending non-"R" cap it is a very good reproduction but a good judge can pick out as a reproduction. Some member sell caps through the Drive Line and the cost varies by the member. The other choice is to attend swap meets and find a good condition used cap or a new one in the box prices vary but one can still find deals anywhere from a $1 and as high priced as $300 or more. If you have a member friend in the states that can shop for you that could be an alternative solution.- Top

Re: Delco Distributor cap patent pending R
Grahame,
I just ordered a cap and rotor (extended copper tip) from K & B Products, and it made a positive difference in the way the car runs. You can order their products from Paragon, but you need to specify that they are coming from K & B. The cap was the non-"R" type, but with Patent Pending. See Paul's post above. I plan on having at least one spare set of cap and rotor from them around for future use.

That subject would open a can of worms there are varying opinions of what the "R" stands for. Some folk are of the opinion that it is for registered trade mark and others think it stands for a change to a different resistor type ignition system. I am in the 2nd group the "R" is also on the boxes for both the Cap and Rotor such as D-308R and D-425R that is why I feel it is not a trade mark rather a change in the ignition system. Hope that helps.- Top
