Park Brake Cable Question -'64 Roadster

I have a '64 roadster and am wondering if my rear park brake cables are correct. They loop down from the frame bracket and back up to the backing-plate of the drum brakes. Unfortunately, the lock-clips are missing at the frame bracket which then allows the cables (loop part) to rotate and then the curved loop part of the cable assembly to rub on the inside of the rear tires. I didnt realize this until checking on a hoist yesterday. Question: Is the only thing holding the cable to the frame-bracket the 'U' shaped retainer clip or do '64's also use something additional ? Would it be possible that the rear cables are incorrect ( the right cable is longer overall than the left rear cable and the connector between the cables looks correct as per drawing in parts catalogs, etc). If a '64 was missing these lock-clips at the frame brackets, and the cable was moved out toward the wheel could it contact the tire?
Any pics of the correct installation on a '64 would be appreciated.
    Thanks,
    Larry

Sounds like you'll OK. The cables will hit the tires when its on the lift. As for the clip, never had these on for the first 30 odd years.
When getting ready for a my first Chapter Show added them. Gone again, got some for the Regional - got home gone again.
So those are typically missing. Email me & I'll send pictures (upload here lacks details which you will need)
