Here is a pic (below)of my wiring at the regulator. When I move them to hook up as yours they want to be in another place.

If I hook the capacitor up to the 6/32 screw on the side (1) it wants to smash the voltage regulator cover. (2) the capacitor mounting hole is much larger than the 6/32 screw but fits the regulator mounting bolt perfectly.

The black ground wire also has a hole size that suggests it fastenes to the regulator mount.

    Is there something wrong here?

I woludn't think that a SB is different than a BB at the regulator?

Also here is a pic of my ALT that must be clocked 90 degrees off.

Any suggestions as to where my problem is?

    Dom -

    1. The capacitor (and the black ground wire from the harness) both attach under the same hex screw into the rear side of the regulator base (the screw without anything on it in your photo); SB and BB are the same. Nothing attaches under any of the three regulator attaching screws, which go into rubber well-nuts, and are thus not grounded.

    2. You need to re-clock your alternator rear case half - the square hole for the gray plug should be oriented 90* clockwise from the boss on the front case half where the adjusting bolt goes.

      John,
The ground does make contact with the regulator case in my pic and will ground the regulator along with the capacitor mount.

That was what was confusing about wire location that is different on your 67 vs. my 67.

If they wanted the ground wire hole (1/4") and cap mount bolt hole(1/4") to go under a 6/32 screw then why didn't they use the right sized hole 1/8??

You know better than I on this but it seems to me that the 6/32 screw on the regulator side was a SCREW up and not necessary.

I will have to modify my stock harness to fit as shown in the pic you have of yours but if that's how it is then that's the way it will have to be.

I am not in disagreement but just in wonder.
